60$ US-Dollar Verlust bei jedem verkauften Xiaomi Mi2 Gerät !!!
ZitatIf the price of 1,999 Chinese yuan (US$313) for the Xiaomi MI2 sounds too good to be true, there’s a good reason why. Xiaomi is making a loss on them. The company’s CEO Lei Jun said on stage during its launch event that the MI2s are being discount to match the US$313 price point of the original MI-One. According to Engadget, Lei said that handset costs US$370 to make, which means a US$60 loss for every unit. It’s likely that costs will come down in the future, so the handsets should eventually turn a profit for the company.
The company has sold 3 million of its original MI-One smartphone since its launch, and has made US$1 billion in revenue in the first half of 2012. That’s only in China, as the company’s smartphones are not sold anywhere else.
If Xiaomi ever decides to sell its handset in other regions, Samsung, HTC and other Android smartphone makers should start watching over their collective shoulders.
